INSTANT ORTHODONTICS - VENEERS

There are times when wearing braces is the only option. However, there are many times when cosmetic dentistry can offer an alternative to years of orthodontic treatment.

Crooked teeth can be straightened, gaps can be closed, and crowded teeth aligned often in as few as two dental visits. (Instant Orthodontics)

If wearing braces is not the treatment you desire, perhaps instant orthodontics is for you. With beautiful empress veneers we can give you the smile you have always wanted.

CROWNS

Crowns are a dental restoration which fully covers the portion of a tooth that lies at and above the gum line. Dental crowns encase the entire visible part of the tooth and become the tooth's new outer surface.

Crowns are made out of porcelain, metal, or a combination of both. Dental crowns can also be called "dental caps" or "tooth caps."

Dr. Meri is expert at using crowns to achieve the following goals:
• Restoring a tooth to its original shape.
• Strengthening a tooth.
• Improving the cosmetic appearance of a tooth.

DENTAL IMPLANTS

Implants are permanent replacements for damaged or missing teeth. They are attached to the jawbone with titanium anchors and are much more secure and quiet than older solutions like bridges or dentures. Implants allow a healthy and varied diet without the restrictions that other temporary solutions require.

There is less bone loss and less damage to neighboring teeth with dental implants, leading to less need for follow-up proceedures or replacement work later in life. Implants really do help you maintain much more stability in your dental health.

After more than 20 years in use, the vast majority of dental implants placed in the United States continue to work perfectly and feel great. The patents who received those early dental implants are still happy that they made the right choice. If properly maintained, dental implants can last a lifetime and improve that life as well.

Patients with dental implants feel better, look better, and live better.

PREVENTION

We are committed to preventing dental disease in all its forms. As partners in striving for your optimum dental health, we will educate you about the latest products, techniques, and information to help you prevent dental disease.

Of major importance is the prevention of disease of the gums and supporting bone structure. Scientific research continues to support the direct relationship between gum disease and serious systemic diseases. The same bacteria that cause periodontal disease enter the blood stream and are directly associated with systemic diseases such as heart attacks, strokes, diabetes, and premature low birth weight babies.

Treatment of periodontal disease has become much more advanced. That is why Dr. Meri and his staff are continually taking courses to stay up to date in all the latest treatments available.

TOOTH COLORED NON-METAL FILLINGS

The new tooth colored filling materials are far superior to the (silver/mercury) metal fillings we grew up with.

Tooth colored fillings:

  • Seal the tooth better
  • Bond the remaining tooth together resulting in a stronger tooth
  • Cause less of your natural tooth structure to be removed to place the bonded restorations
  • Look Great!

Tooth colored fillings help restore strength and function while giving your teeth a healthy and natural look.

ENDODONTICS

Endodontic (Root Canal) Therapy is the removal of the pulp tissue from the tooth.

The pulp tissue refers to the nerve and blood vessels of the tooth. Endodontic Therapy may be necessary to save your natural tooth if the pulp tissue is irreversibly damaged by bacteria associated with decay, very deep fillings, tooth fracture or trauma, or periodontal disease.

Using the latest technology Dr.Meri is able to complete endodontic treatment comfortably and in much less time than previously possible.

ANXIETY

Do you ever get nervous just thinking about going to the dentist? You might be worrying unnecessarily. With dentistry's many advances, diagnosis and treatment gets more sophisticated and comfortable all the time.

It's often best to share your anxiety. If you're tense or anxious, tell your dentist and the dental staff. Getting your concerns out in the open will let your dentist adapt the treatment to your needs.

Try to choose a time for your dental visit when you're less likely to be rushed or under pressure. For some people, that means an early-morning appointment or a time they are off from work.

If the sound of the drill bothers you, bring a portable audio player or a favorite Movie (on DVD) so you can listen or watch to your favorite music, or Movie. During the dental visit you might try visualizing yourself relaxing on a warm beach.

WHITENING

Why Should I Whiten My Teeth?

Tooth whitening is one of the easiest procedures that can be done to improve the appearance of a smile.

Maybe you've always wanted a beautiful white smile. Or your teeth have yellowed over time. Or you're not happy with the staining that results from drinking coffee, tea or cola. Whatever your reason for wanting whiter teeth, you're not alone.

Just like we all have different hair and skin color, people also have different tooth color. Some teeth are more yellow than others, while others yellow with aging. Your natural tooth color can also be affected by many factors.

  • Surface stains and internal discoloration can be caused by:
  • The natural aging process
  • Using tobacco (smoked or chewed), drinking coffee, tea, colas or red wine, and eating pigmented foods such as cherries and blueberries
  • Accumulation of plaque and tartar deposits
  • Ingesting too much fluoride (more than 2 parts fluoride per million parts water) when teeth are forming, which gives teeth a "mottled" look
  • Treatment with the antibiotic tetracycline during childhood
  • Trauma to the teeth that may cause a brown, gray or black color
  • There are many reasons for whitening your teeth, including:
  • The boost to your confidence and self-esteem that comes from a great smile
  • A younger appearance
  • A special event such as a wedding, job interview or class reunion
  • To make a positive first impression on others
  • To simply reverse years of everyday staining and yellowing

Before beginning any whitening procedure, be sure to consult with Dr. Meri to the whitening system that works for you.
